Interview with Girl Scouts Alum: How Has Girl Scouts Impacted Your Life?

As a volunteer, I wrote an article for a Girl Scouts newsletter in 2019. Special thanks to Girls Scouts of Northeast Ohio for allowing me to help out with such a noble cause :)

Show Your Sash: Kerry Gregoire
Kerry Gregoire, Assistant Vice President at Seibert Insurance Partners, remembers being introduced to Girl Scouts through her dad. For Kerry and like many other alums, Girl Scouts is an organization that has helped her develop friendships and strong values. These values have helped her become successful in the working world as well as with raising a family. “ I believe that being a Girl Scout taught me to become independent, caring in helping others, loyal, a team player, respect others, be responsible, disciplined, and creative,” said Kerry. While she has many memorable experiences with Girl Scouts while selling cookies, making crafts and projects, she believes special memories were created at camp. “I enjoyed walking the trails and learning to be a survivor. I enjoyed all the activities, especially at night singing around the campfire and making s’mores,” said Kerry. Girl Scouts has taught Kerry how to set goals and achieve them. It has given her strong values and a great foundation to build a meaningful life. “As displayed in my sash, I am proud of all the badges that I earned. Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout.”

Grants For Graduate Students

As a graduate student, I know what it is like to face economic barriers. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming sacrificing the amount of hours you can work in order to attend class and complete field experiences that are unpaid. For this reason, I have developed an interest in looking for funding opportunities. Economics directly impacts student's mental, physical and emotional health. Economics is what drives many students of color like myself to college to begin with.  I hope to one day be part of the solution to this problem. Below are a few resources with tips that may be useful to you or someone you know.
